Our History

Friendship Elementary School construction began in March of 2004 on the 50 acre site. The school is located at 1490 Friendship-Ledford Road in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Our school opened August 25, 2005 with Debbie Dawson as Principal and Jeff Mendenhall as Assistant Principal. Friendship Elementary School opened with a population of 396 students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grades and 57 staff members. We had 26 regular classrooms. Friendship Elementary merged students from Hasty Elementary and Wallburg Elementary. Our school is now one of three schools that prepares students to enter Ledford Middle, Oak Grove Middle, and Ledford High School. Friendship was built to accommodate 550 students in our 73,000 square foot building.
