Dear Friendship Elementary Community,

I am honored to be starting my second year as Principal of Friendship Elementary! This past year has been an incredible journey of learning, growing, and building relationships, and I am grateful to be part of such a dedicated and supportive school community. Together, we have celebrated successes, tackled challenges, and continued to make Friendship Elementary a place where every student can thrive.

My journey in education began with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, where I developed a strong foundation in teaching. Driven by a passion for leadership and school improvement, I earned a Master’s in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro through the PPEERS Program, which equipped me with the skills and vision to lead and support a school community effectively.

Over the years, I have been privileged to serve students in various roles. I taught 4th and 5th grade in Guilford County for four years, then expanded my experience as an 8th Grade English Language Arts teacher at North Davidson Middle School for another four years. I later served as a Principal Intern at Reeds Elementary, followed by two years as the Assistant Principal at Oak Grove Middle School. Each of these roles has shaped my leadership style and deepened my commitment to student success.

As we begin this new school year, my focus remains on fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. I believe that strong relationships with students, families, and staff are the heart of a thriving school, and I am excited to continue building on the strong foundation we have here at Friendship.

Here’s to another year of growth, collaboration, and achievement for our students!

Warmest regards,
Meredith Phillips
