Mair Leonard, MS CCC/SLP
Welcome to the craziest year in education ever. Our school motto is "Together we can". Education in the time of COVID 19 has been a learning curve for all involved, but with grace, commitment and a positive attitude, we can persevere.
I'm Mair Leonard. This is my ninth year here at Friendship Elementary. My professional experience includes home health, hospital, skilled nursing, and early intervention settings. I've been a school-based SLP since 2000 and with Davidson County Schools since 2003. I received a Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University and maintain accreditation with American Speech, Hearing and Language Association and the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathologist and Audiologists.
My role here at Friendship Elementary School includes providing speech/language services for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) or Private School Service Plans (PSSP) from kindergarten to fifth grade as well itinerant preschool children ages three to five. As part of the Problem Solving Team (PST), I also provide Tier 2 guidance for teachers and Tier 3 direct intervention for students within the PST process.
In addition to providing speech/language services, I help coach the Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) team. You may also see me snapping photographs for the yearbook occasionally.
